Hysteroscopy, Biopsy & Polyps

Hi, I'm 49 post menopausal and following some bleeding on and off for few months I was sent for a scan. They said my womb lining was 15.6mm with 'maybe polyps', and wanted me to go in for a Hysteroscopy under GA (GA was requested as it was too painful) for biopsy and polyp removal. I had this done yesterday. as I was coming round I think the consultant / surgeon said it all looked fine and that they've taken a biopsy and removed the polyp(s) and sent them off for testing. My question to anyone who is going through something similar, do they usually said everything looks fine? Should they say this before testing the samples? Any advice thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies - sending you all love and healing thoughts x

  • I'm so happy that you got good news.

I'm happy that I will no longer be dealing with the constant bleeding. They explained that the coil will gradually return the womb lining to normal, though it will take up to 4 months. I need a follow up biopsy in 6 months to check and another 6 months after that and if my womb lining is normal at both those appointments, then I will be discharged.  Given the number of blood tests and scans I've had, I'm feeling relatively hopeful that I won't hear anything further now til I get my appointments through for the ultrasound and biopsies in the summer
