PSA 30.4 & Urgent referal

Hi all

My husband aged 57 has been having urine flow trouble for a couple of years.
He finally plucked up courage after much persuasion to go get prostate checked.
He had a blood test last week to check PSA which came back with a level of 30.4 today was his appointment to get examination where is is fully enlarged.
He has had an urgent 2 week referal done today for further testing.
We are both so worried but trying to be positive.
We know all cases are individual and different but with anyone else's experience is their still hope with this level of PSA that it could be a benign condition or should we prepare for a cancer diagnosis?
Any advice or experiences welcome.

xx

  • Welcome to the forum Hs21 although I'm sorry to read about the anxious time you and your husband are going through at the moment.

I know it's difficult, but try not to think too far ahead if you can until all the tests have been carried out and the results have been looked at as only then will you know what your husband is dealing with.

Hopefully some of our members who have had raised PSA levels will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you and/or your husband would like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Hs21 and wishing your husband all the best with his referral. We'll have our fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Hs21

Just looking for some hope really. Just found out my Dad has a raised PSA in similar circumstances and symptoms as your husband. We are waiting for all the scans so a couple of months behind you.

I hope your path was lucky? Can you advice us on what the next few weeks will entail.

    Thank you in advance
