Neck Ultrasound - doctor told me to call gp in two days

I've had a lump in the left side of my neck since November and it has been growing, when I first felt it, it felt like a muscle strain but now I can really feel the actual lump. I had a ultrasound yesterday and after examining the area with the lump, the doctor wanted to scan the rest of my neck and took some images. After the scan, she told me to call my GP in two business days which surpised me as it's so soon. She made no feedback about the scan and was completely neutral, just later proceeded to say she needed to have a meeting and said 'nothing too worrying.' The stress during my third year uni exams is just too much... Anyone else have a same experience?

  • I didn't have that exact experience but it sounds to me like it means "the results will be with your GP in two days. You can get the results from them at that point."

They don't usually give feedback from scans, in my experience, because a doctor has to check them before they can say anything for sure. Occasionally, they have said stuff like "it looks OK to me but I can't say for sure until the doctor has viewed them."

The fact she said "nothing too worrying" is more feedback than it is normal to get and implies she is pretty confident.
