Raised nodes left side of neck

Hi All

About 2 weeks ago I noticed a lump on my neck, lower left side. It's quite rubbery and is movable. It's more elongated than round and isn't particularly painful. I had a chiropractor appointment on Monday and she thought it was a knot in a muscle and did some work on it but it's still there.

I saw my GP today and he said that some of my other nodes are up at the same side and is referring me to ENT for a scan. I had full blood count done in September and he seems content that all was well then so isn't repeating them just now. He checked my throat which was fine and I don't have any other symptoms. He said to me not to panic and he's referring me due to my age (I'm 57). I had my Covid booster (Moderna) and flu jab in December.

I can't help but feel concerned and wonder if anyone can share their experience with me. I'm a bit shocked that he said other glands were raised as I had no idea.

Thank you.

  • Hello Loubyloo65 and welcome to our forum!

You seem to have a very good GP who is being very thorough but doesn't seem overly concerned. It's good news the full blood count didn't flag anything concerning and that your throat was fine too. All you can do now is wait for your referral to ENT so that you can have that scan. Waiting for tests and results is a really stressful experience when time can seem to be going in very slow motion. There are helpful tips on this page  to help you cope with the wait while you are waiting to find out more. It has also been mentioned that the Covid jab can caused raised nodes but it's good to have it all properly checked just to be sure.

I hope you will hear from other forum member who have had the same experience. Everything tightly crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern!

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks so much for the reply Lucie, it's appreciated.

I have a bit of a sore ear today (same side) and a lump has also now appeared behind that ear. Really hoping I don't have to wait too long to hear from ENT. Don't mind admitting I feel quite scared.

  • Hoping someone can share if they've had anything similar!

My lymph nodes on left side of neck are still up and behind both ears is swollen - my glasses are leaving an indent - but not painful. My left ear has developed a feeling of fullness and is now causing me some pain. It's not secreting any wax and won't "pop". I'm seeing the GP about this on Wednesday and am still waiting to hear about ultrasound.

I'm concerned because my lymph nodes have been up since mid January but my ear issue has only come to light fairly recently. Is it possible to have an ear issue for a while before having any symptoms? I can't help but feel something is wrong and worry about lymphoma, although I don't have any other symptoms of it.

I'd be really grateful if anyone could share their experience and thanks so much for reading.
