CLL Lukemia

Hi there, not sure if I have CLL but I am almost certain my blood count is erratic.

I was just wondering (to all CLL patients) what level your lymphoytes were at diagnosis?

Mine have really been a rollercoaster of up and down for 9 years

3'300

then up 4'900

then down 4'200

during 2021 they were between 4'200 and 4'600

The during an infection I saw 8'900 all of those little white cells were up.

at present they are at 5'000

I have not been diagnosed, but, I am alarmingly confused as to how I have not been.

I am certain the normal highest is 4'000

So my question is what is the count to be dignosed and for how long is it monitored.

I'm really unhealthy, heavy, type 2 diebetic and all the lovely things that go along with being "obese" as my DR tells me. Oh she is a lovely lady.

It's a silly question, but, what non cancers cause high Lymphoytosis? Would tooth infections, chest infections cause an elevated count after 6 weeks of being better?

Thanks in advance

  • A good few years ago in my 20's, i had suspected polycythaemia (high red blood count). I only noticed it because i got a superficial blood clot.

Anyway, after a battery of tests spanning months, it was determined i didn't have polycythaemia. Something a couple of haematologists, and my own gp pressed home during all this, was blood counts. Most of the blood counts contained within blood panels are done through averages on the general population. It means the vast majority of people fall within these counts. Whether it be on the low end, middle or high end. But there are a fair few people who just naturally fall outside of these counts, and their counts are normal for them.

9 years is an awfully long time to have counts outside of those averages show up and nothing to date picked up. Has it ever been said to you that this might just be normal for you? My red blood count is always towards the high end, yet here I am decades later with no issues, and no sinister blood cancer.
