Breast clinic referral, appt on Thurs, feeling nervous

Hi 

I have been referred for a lump and pain in left armpit also lump in left breast  which I wasn't aware of I've had left breast pain couple times also in previous weeks  , I have waited over week now have an appointment on Thursday which will a day before it would be 2 weeks , I'm  nervous scared over thinking anyone else had these symptoms? And how was the outcome xx

    I'm sorry to hear about the lump and pain you've been contending with in your left armpit and breast. I know this must be scary but many of our members have had this as well so you are not alone and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon. 

    I'm not sure from your post if you have been referred before, but if you haven't, you can find out what may happen at your appointment just here.

    If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very friendly and will do all they can to answer any questions you may have and put your mind at ease.

    Hi Chellbell

    I've been where you are and I know it is a very scary time, so I won't tell you not to worry. But the truth is, worrying won't change anything, and it may well turn out to be nothing suspicious, as most lumps do. But even it it is, as was the case for me, the treatments available now are so advanced and effective. All I can suggest is that you try to distract yourself as much as possible, listen to happy music, pray/meditate, chat to friends or to the Macmillan helpline. And remind yourself that there's as much chance it will be nothing (cyst/fibroadenoma, etc). 

    I'll be praying for you and hope you'll come back here and let us know how you get on.
