Itching breast

Hi,

I have been experiencing a really itchy right breast for a week or more and I'm wondering if I should get it checked out?

I'm 33 and I have endometriosis. I am currently on month 11 of an 18 month Zoladex treatment course. I also use everol 25 patches.

I first noticed the itching just over a week ago. It's not all the time but several times throughout the day. It's like something is irritating me but there's nothing there. I'm wondering with the treatment I'm on should I be concerned?

Many thanks for any advice.

  • Hi,

I know you are quite young but I would get it checked out if I was you, just to be on the safe side .

I too developed a itch on my breast , it didn't itch all the time.. at first, just a itch here and there every now and then , once a day, a couple of times a day etc then it started itching every day, all day and suddenly I'd be waking up itching like mad, there was nothing to be felt or even seen and I decided I'd ask the doctor but then I remembered I'd had a letter in the post telling me to make na appointment for my first mammogram has I'd recently turned 50 so I figured I'd make one and if they seen nothing then I'd speak to the doctor about itch , unfortunately they found a lump on the mammogram and I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer , they removed the lump and lymph nodes which the cancer had also spread to and a year after that they found the breast cancer had spread to my lungs and I have now got stage 4 breast cancer.

So yes go get the itch checked out for peace of mind

  • Hi Tess

I would say definitely get it checked out, if only to put your mind at rest, otherwise you'll be worrying when there may be nothing to worry about.

  • Hi Tess1701,

I would definitely go and see your GP and ask to be referred to the breast clinic.  I know this will be worrying for you but it needs checking out thoroughly.  Itchiness was a symptom I had some time before I was diagnosed with a very early and small invasive breast cancer last year.   That being the case, that does NOT mean that this will be your outcome.  You will more than likely be fine and only a small percentage of people with breast issues actually go on to be diagnosed with cancer.  It's wise to get any change in the breasts checked out though.
    All the best.

    Mary.

  • Thank you for all the replies everyone.
