Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on here and reddit and a few other places for a while. I have been dealing with some digestive difficulties which I have been seeing the doctor for a lot recently. I was convinced it was something serious. Having been on the low fodmap diet for 3 weeks the discomfort I had been feeling for 4-6 months has finally subsided. The GP said is was likely IBS, but i was never taken for any exainations beyond stool test, complete blood count and FIT - all of which were fine apparently.
With my bowels feeling better thanks to Low FODMAP (i was in a lot of pain and discomfort) I started noticing a lot of tightness in my shoulder, cue discovering a lump between my clavicle and sternum (or between clavicle and top rib) whiletrying to pop my shoulder into place.
I went to the GP this morning, regarding my bowel issues they had generally not been all that helpful and a bit dismissive. Upon feeling the bump in my chest I have now been fast tracked for a next day X-Ray. I will get my resuts by the end of the week.
I dont really know what I am looking for here, after months and months of cancer anxiety (bowel cancer in this case), feeling exhausted and sleeping very poorly I am more calm than expected. Since starting the low fodmap diet and am sleeping better and feeling better generally.
I was expecting the doctor to tell me this was nothing to be honest, especially after generally dismissing my bowel concerns, so I am a bit taken a back at how quiickly things are moving.
I dont want to worry any of my family (Parents / Siblings - dont have a wife or kids) but dont have any one to talk to.
I'm keen to hear seme anecdotal experience of fast track xrays like this. My GP is being quite diplomatic, this morning in person she said she wasnt worried about it, but that we should go through the motions anyway (at the time she said it should take between 6-8 weeks to be seen by a specialist, who would then decide if i needed an xray).
She called back a few hours later and gave me some phone numbers to book an xray, basically immediately. So I have one for tomorrow.
I am 42, have always been very active physically but have also been a heavy smoker. I quit smoking 2 months ago as it seemed to be irritating my bowels. Symptoms wise, aside from the lump, I have had a tight shoulder for a while, but through weights and stretching seemed vaguely mangeable but persistent. I seem to have an enlarged tongue and have quite frothy pee (both for months now). I am not coughing, dry or otherwise. Through sport I have speckled green phlegm come up from time to time.
I know no one can diagnose me here but it would be nice to hear some other stories. I'm feeling quite alone and could do with some positive encouragment.
A big part of me is starting to accept that I have quite late stage lung cancer, I just havent felt right for months. It really started when i felt too tired to play my sport quite suddently a few months ago, a sport which invovles explosive sprinting.
I am struggling to focus on work or find the energy to go to they gym (something I have done daily for the last few months).
Thanks for the time
