Mole biopsy looming

Had to amend due to typo in title! Same post!

Hi,

Just needed to type this down I think. I know there is nothing anyone can do.

My mole biopsy is due Tuesday. The closer it is getting, the more anxious I am feeling. The original Derm said he didn't think it was melanoma, the GP didn't seem overly concerned, the plastic surgeon said it definitely is melanoma, the second dermatologist I went to to do a full body skin check wouldn't commit!

In my head, I'm just waiting for staging, but as you can imagine, I'm on stage 3!! If I'm lucky. I'm psycho analysing everything. I ticked ALL the ABCDE's.

The real fear for Tuesday is when they go to remove the mole, would it have gone too deep and they tell me they couldn't get it all? I've no idea what to expect, but of course, my anxiety makes me expect the absolute worst!

I don't know how long I've left this! It's a pre-existing 'freckle' that has very gradually changed! So I couldn't say whether this is an early change or not in all honesty. But I just hope that when the plastic surgeon said, once it is out, it's out, is true, and the worse case is the WLE to remove further healthy tissue to reduce the chance of recurrence!

I am so focused on the area that it's irritating! It didn't before!!

The good news is, all other moles on my body are perfectly normal! I'll take that for now.

  • Hello KMFearful

I just wanted to post to wish you well for your biopsy appointment tomorrow. It's natural that you're feeling anxious ahead of the biopsy and I think that many of our members here will understand that.

We know that waiting for results can be a difficult time for many people as well. Often it can help to chat things through so I wanted to let you know that if you'd like to talk with our nurses for some support and advice at any point over the next few weeks then you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

Try to remain positive. Worrying won't change the outcome tomorrow but it will leave you feeling unwell. Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn

  • Thank you. It's a rollercoaster! One minute I'm super positive and I can do this...the next I feel so defeated!
