Symptoms for Breast Cancer

Hi, (reposting as think I added in wrong area)

I am very anxious about a 2ww cancer referal for breast cancer. I have a solid lump in the right armpit and swelling all along, recently the breast/neck and back have started to have a dull ache, not painful. I have found a second lump, small and pea sized in right breast. I have had other strange symptoms too, random swelling on my face/neck/throat that I have put down to allergies now I'm not so sure. Have been having terrible night sweats and sweating more in the day too, headaches and a weird feeling/pressie in my throat.

unfortunately it's been 2 weeks now and no appointment yet, I will call and ask Monday as anxiety is getting the better of me.

Has anyone experienced symptoms that I have? If so what was the outcome/results for you?

many thanks for any responses, I know everyone has lots going on at the moment.

  • Hi, don't worry to much that's only going to make you more anxious trust me..

I also waited the whole two weeks and 4 days before I had my appointment with the breast clinic. I had a small lump on my right breast also severe night sweats and many in the day too.. I thought it was perimenopause turns out it was type 2 diabetes, I was finally diagnosed with that at my 1st chemo session in October by the royal marsden .. my gp didn't pick it up thou .. but never mind.
I was diagnosed with Grade 3 triple negative breast cancer in September..had a hard time with chemo to the point I had severe panic attacks .. the cancer has now spread to a lymph node in my right armpit so on Thursday I'm going for a mastectomy with total node removal to be on the safe side.. followed by 3 weeks of daily radiotherapy.

give your hospital or GP a call and enquire about a potential date you'll be seen and if you need any advice or anything give me a message.

I wish you all the best and will be sending positive thoughts to you xx

  • Hey,

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate it. So sorry to hear it spread, and hope the surgery and rasiotherapy goes ok.

Can I ask if you suffered with headaches too?

thank you so much for the reply. Carla x

  • The waiting is awful too, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the reply.

I'm so sorry it got missed that's so frustrating for you too x

  • Hello cg

    welcome to you .

Firstly I would say take a deep breath and try to stay calm not all breast lumps are cancerous and it's natural to fear the worst , 8 out of 10 people who go to the breast clinic come away with no diagnosis of breast cancer it can be many things .

to be honest I don't think there are symptoms of breast cancer to report .

I had BC last July I'm now fully recovered and back as quick as that like it never happened I never had time off work managed everything well my positivity was brilliant I wasn't giving in no chance no tears and tantrums just socks up got ot done .

I didn't have one symptom as you described so please don't worry yourself to much .

at the appointment you will get tests done and see what's really going on until then please relax if you can no point in getting yourself down as it could well be nothing at all my love ️

I'm here when you need a chat my lovely

  • Hi there

I am sorry, the waiting is awful, try not to overthink it all. I'm sure they will call you in soon, mine was around 2 weeks and then everything happened very quickly. I had a masectomy for a 5mm lump and lymph node removal, cancer was in 2 nodes. Sometimes the worry and stress makes your symptons worse, once you know the diagnosis you will feel better.

    Best wishes

    Silver

    Hi Cg1234,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I suspect that you have not had a reply yet from the question you posted on the "Ask the Nurses" section, because they are only here from Monday to Friday. However, I am glad to see that you have had some good advice here from other forum members.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 13 years and had no symptoms whatsoever. On both occasions, I found a lump in my breast when I was showering. The 2 week wait is always an anxious time. This has been a little longer in some areas, due to a backlog from COVID. Do you know the name of the clinic or consultant that you've been referred to? The best way to find out where you are on the list, is to phone your consultant's secretary, as there may already be a date in his/her diary.

It is unusual for pain to acompany breast cancer, so try not to worry.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you all for the replies, I am trying to stay positive and agree that waiting does seem to make you feel worse.

Jolamine: thank you I will look on the letter and call them tomorrow, I hadn't thought of that, least if there's a date you can work towards that, absolutely. I thought that about the ask the nurses section but the advice from all you lovely ladies has been so comforting.

Silver: I hope you are feeling better now, so glad you had swift treatment. Trying not to overthink, I'm always my own worst enemy of an evening when the children are asleep and I have stopped looking at google.

Lara: thank you so much for your reply too, your completly right, there is no point worrying until the appointment and knowing. My body has been doing such strange things recently, and I wonder now if it's down to stress too.

Thank you ladies for your kind replies, I will let you know the outcome when I go.

    lots of love,

    Carla
