Worried about a rash on both of my breasts

Hi I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this as I'm stressed. So almost 2 weeks ago a rash started on the outside of my right breast, then the next morning it appeared on the left side same place. Both are very heavy and feel "tight", it's quite painful and really itchy and I have a stabbing pain inside.

went to the nurse who didn't seem interested I was in for 4 minutes she prescribed flucloxacillin as she said it's just mastitis (but she's never seen it on both breasts before). I have had mastitis with my first daughter 16 year ago and it was nothing like this. So taking the antibiotics and it's not got better it's now worse. I drew a line to mark where it was to begin with and it's gone all the way across the top now.

so I went to the dr today and said I was a little concerned as breast cancer does run in my family and the antibiotics didn't seem to do anything. I was gobsmacked when he looked and me shook his head and said no it's not cancer " you can't get breast cancer on both breasts, and there's no lump". He has prescribed another course of flucloxacillin and also co amoxiclav and naproxen and said go back in 3 weeks?

my mind is going crazy and my anxiety is through the roof I feel like my drs just don't want to listen to my concerns and it worries me that the first 10 day course didn't work so they have given me more. I can't pick anything up and even if anything brushes against them that seems to cause both pain and the itch to start.

sorry for long post but I'm hoping someone has had similar to put my mind at ease. X

    Hi Missrach,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and the worry that they are causing you.

I am not a doctor, but as far as I understand, it is unusual to have pain accompanying breast cancer. I myself have had 2 bouts in the past 13 years. In both cases, I found the lump whilst I was showering, but had no other symptoms at all. From what you describe, this does sound like an infection and people sometimes need a few courses of antibiotics to clear these up. Presumably, this is why your GP has also prescribed Amoxiclav?

I am glad to hear that he is keeping a watchful eye on the area and is bringing you back in 3 weeks. If it gets any worse in the meantiime, don't hesitate to make another appointment before then. Can I ask what age you are - sometimes younger people tend to get dismissed, because they don't get diagnosed with cancer, as often as we older ones do?

I hope that the inflammation settles down soon.

Please keep in touch. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
