Small cyst with nodule polyps or fibroid and ca125

Hello

im 46 and have the minera coil. Last august I went for my regular smear and had to go for ultrasound and tvus as they thought the coil was misplaced. It wasn't but doctor told me she would prefer it if I had it removed and replaced. So fast forward to end of November 2022  went to clinic who did another tvus who confirmed coil was in place and she wasn't going to replace it but she could see a polyp. Between smear and clinc appointment I had a severe heavy bleeding in nov and another in December, just for one day, clots coming out like something from a horror movie, size of a side plate . I wasn't too worried as I knew polyps or fibroids can cause heavy bleeding. So the clinic sent me for full pelvic ultrasound at hospital. This appointment was last Thursday ultrasound seemed ok but sonographer wanted to do tvus also.  He said there was a small cyst with a nodule and I've also got a fibroid or polyp and to call go for urgent ca125 blood test I've had this today and waiting for results. Has anyone had the scan first and then the blood test everything I've read is all about the blood test first and then scans. If the levels are low what will happen next as i already know there's a cyst with a nodule any words of wisdom or suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.
so sorry for the long waffling post

  • Hello 76cola and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

You're not waffling at all and I hope that you will meet others who have been in a similar situation and that they will have some words of wisdom or suggestions for you based on their personal experience. I hope that you get the results soon from the CA125 test - I don't think you can read anything into the fact that you had the scan first and then the blood test after; the order in which it was done should not be of much significance I would expect.

All you can do for now is wait which is often the hardest thing. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for news.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
