Breast Cancer worry just months after having tests. Anxious

Hi,

So grateful to be part of such a wonderful supportive community. You're all warriors

I am a 35 y/o female and first went to the docs with breast pain and breast lumps on my left last January. Full ultrasound and mammogram in February concluded it was thickening of breast tissue perhaps due to the covid vaccine or due to hormones. They said I should keep an eye on it.

Went back again in September as had the same symptoms. Had ultrasound and mammogram again. They confirmed the thickenining of the breast tissue was still there and benign but found a cyst underneath my left nipple. Had a biopsy on it and results negative. Nothing else found.

Found a hard, moveable small lump just underneath my left breast along the undirewire of a bra would be so booked in to see GP. She subsequently found a lump underneath my right nipple and a lump in my left armpit. She has said that both feel benign but I'm being sent for tests.

Am feeling extremely anxious given I was only in for tests 4 months ago and that there is a lot of breast cancer in my family.

has anybody else had experience of having the all clear only to find lumps again soon after?

sending love and thanks for reading

    Hi Worried1987UK,

I am sorry to hear that you are being referred back to the breast clinic for a third time. Unfortunately, thisis not unusual. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago and had a lumpectomy. Four months later, I found a larger lump in my other breast. My surgeon thought that this was cancerous too, but fortunately a biopsy found this to be benign. Almost a year to the day of my second surgery, I found another lump in my original breast and this time, I wasn't so lucky. I had a second primary cancer and had a double mastectomy.

This was unexpected, because my cancer was caught at a very early stage and I got it investigated as soon as I found my symptoms. My cancer type is Pure Mucinous Breast Cancer, which is one of the less aggressive types, so again, this seemed unusual.

I guess what I'm saying is that the result can go either way and it's only by getting thee changes tested at the breast clinic that you can know for certain, so you are doing the right thing.

Please keep in touch and let us know when you get your appointment through. We are always here for you.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping that nothing untoward is found.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Worried,

My Mum died from secondary breast cancer, so I have always been breast aware. I was having a shower when I felt the lump and had no other symptoms at all.

The first year after diagnosis was a tough time, but I now lead a busy and fulfilling life. I have also been so fortunate to have seen so many family milestones in the intervening years.

I sincerely hope that all goes well for you too.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
