I’m so anxious

Hi , I've posted a few bits on here previously , just hoping someone can reassure me .

Having a bone marrow biopsy on the 19th I googled the procedure probably not a great idea ! The consultant didn't overly explain , just mentioned it's fine . I'm getting myself into a right state to the point I'm not sure I can go through with the appointment. I also have a scan this week to and a consultants follow up on the 2nd February to review all the results.

Can anyone share there experience please, recovery time etc

I would be very grateful

Thank you Lou .

  • Hello Lou

I'm sorry to hear that you've got yourself in a bit of a state ahead of your biopsy. We know that this often happens when people search online for information.

I'd suggest giving the Consultant secretary a call. Explain how worried you are and ask if someone can call to talk things through with you. Alternatively, you're welcome to call our team of nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and reassurance they can ahead of your appointment.

This period of uncertainty can be very scary for many people. The unknown often leaves us feeling anxious and so it's understandable that you're feeling worried about your appointments. Hopefully these tests will give the specialists the information they need to make an accurate diagnosis and set you on the right path to improving things.

Keep in touch Lou. Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn , thank you for your kind words and reassurance. I'm sure all will be well , I have my scan this afternoon and biopsy tomorrow. It's definitely worse not knowing for sure .
    I will keep you updated.

    many thanks Lou

  • Hi Jenn ,  thought I would update you about how my scan and bone marrow biopsy went yesterday. Scan was easy , biopsy wasn't very  pleasant but bearable as other members have mentioned which helped greatly. I'm now resting up on the advice of the consultant , pain is manageable, a little uncomfortable . Staff were amazing.

Now it's a waiting game again for results and see where this takes me . Thank you again for your messages really appreciate everything. Lou

    Best wishes,

  • Post Operative Low Mood

Hi , can anyone relate to feeling low after a procedure ? I had a bone marrow biopsy a few days ago and may have a kidney infection too.

Just wondering has anyone experienced low moods , tiredness etc  Waiting for the results while recovering, as it's taken it's toll on me . Thought I would be feeling ok after a few days but I'm not . Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you Lou

    Hi Lou,

I am glad to hear that you have had your bone scan and your biopsy. Did they say when you would get your results?

Waiting for results is always a worrying time. All sorts of emotions go through our heads and many of us have difficulty in sleeping. If you also have a kidney infection, this will also affect your emotions. Things usually get a little easier once you discover exactly what you are dealing with, so here's hoping that you hear something soon.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine, thank you for your kind reply it always helps coming on here and chatting . I'm sure I'll feel better once I know a diagnosis and feel more like myself . Sleeping is so difficult at the moment. I do a physical job to , I've only taken one shift off since my biopsy to rest as instructed but with everything else I'm not sure if I'm ready to return as yet . I worry about everything ! I will keep you updated when I've seen the consultant for sure .

    Thank you again

    Lou

    Hi Lou,

I'm sure that you'll feel better once you know what you're dealing with. Did they give anything away when you had your bone biopsy?

It is always difficult to continue working when you feel so stressed. The one good thing about work is that it takes your mind off cancer for a while.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine , thank you for your reply. Unfortunately no news said at my bone marrow biopsy as I have a follow up appointment on the 2nd February with the Haemotologist .

I'm taking a few shifts off work by advise of my doctor to rest and take everything in so far . It's been such a whirlwind sometimes you need to sit and process the last few months physically and mentally.

    I'll keep in touch .

    Hi Lou,

Waiting for a diagnosis is always a challenge and you seem to have had a longer wait than most. I know how frustrating it is to have so many tests, but still no answer. I hope that you can enjoy your time off work. Try to keep yourself busy to help the time to pass.

    Kind regards,

    Jolaine xx
