Dent in my chest after Reconstruction

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to know if anyone else had a lat flap reconstruction after BC and if they exerienced any chest wall dents above this area at all? Its becoming quite visual and it causes pain. I get told constantly cancer doesnt cause pain, but in my case i found the cancer lumps twice due to the same kind of pain. I will call them Monday to see about being scanned but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this issue. Truth be told post cancer care is a lonely place to be.

  • Hello Fionajane

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with pain and that you've also noticed a visual dent in your breast after your lat dorsi flap reconstruction. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned.

I hope that you were able to get in touch with your breast care nurse today or at least able to leave them a message. If not then give them a call.

Sometimes there can be some unevenness or dents in the breast after reconstruction. Discuss this with your breast care nurse or the surgeon if you're able to arrange an appointment with them as there may be options available to help improve the cosmetic look of your breast.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
