Please help- biopsy results appointment

Hi please can you help. I am very worried about a biopsy results appointment I have next week. I had a biopsy in my breast last week and the doctor said it was irregular and worrying so I am bracing myself for the worst.
They have called me back for the results. I am so worried. Please can you tell me what happens at this appointment and do I get know what stage it is, if it is growing quickly and what treatment I can have? I have so many questions.
thank you

    Hi Worred.

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Waiting for results is always a worrying time. I was told that I had cancer at my first appointment. It still came as a shock when I got the results of my biopsy the following week. Your consultant will tell you of the findings from any scans or biopsies that you've had. If it does turn out to be cancer, you will be told the grade and type of breast cancer and any treatment that is recommended. If you need surgery, the tissue removed will be sent to Pathology. The Pathologist will ensure that a wide enough margin has been achieved around the lesion. They may also remove a few lymph nodes from under your arm, at this stage. This is to ensure that there has been no spread.

When your Pathology results come back, you will be told the type of breast cancer again, whether or not there has been any spread and what stage the cancer is at.

As Lara has said, it is all quite straightforward, although at times, things happen so quickly, that you feel as if you are being swept along with the tide.

I hope that all goes well for you tomorrow. I agree with Lara. It is a good idea to take someone with you if you can. You will also find it helpful to write down any questions you may have.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
