We also tested your sample for abnormal cervical cells. We found changes to some of the cells in

your cervix called 'borderline changes'. In almost all cases these cell changes are not found to be

cancer, but we would like you to come for a further examination.

The examination is called colposcopy. It is similar to having cervical screening. We have requested a colposcopy appointment for you. This will take place in a hospital outpatient clinic.

  • Hello Loveevermin

I'm sorry to hear that your recent cervical screening results have left you feeling unsure and anxious about things.

As the letter states, borderline changes are almost always not cancer but it is important to get these changes looked at in more detail and that's why they have arranged an appointment for you with the colposcopy team.

There's lots of information available on the Jo's Trust website about cervical cell changes and colposcopy but I realise that this may feel overwhelming for you. I wonder if you might find it more helpful to either call the Jo's Trust helpline (number at the top of their website pages) or to speak with one of our nurses. I'm sure that either helpline will be happy to talk things through with you and offer some support and reassurance. If you'd like to chat with our nurses they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope this helps and wish you well for your appointment.
