Mole biopsy

Hi all,

I had a biopsy on a mole just under a week ago. On the day they booked me in for a follow up appointment with dermatology on the 25th Jan. Today I received a notification to say my appointment has been cancelled. No explanation at all? I'm praying no news is good news? Obviously I'm a little anxious about the results and they said good news would be relayed over the phone? Just haven't had the call?  Anyone else had anything similar? Thank, Squiderella

  • Sadly you can't tell what this cancellation means. It could be because of the nurses strike causing backlogs. It could be that your results aren't expected to be back in time for the 25th (which is more likely because most hospitals are taking 6 to 8 weeks at the moment).

They should really send another notification with a rearranged date. I've had my scan results appointment cancelled in one letter and at the same time received a second letter with the new date, so maybe another notification is in it's way to you. The only way you can know for sure is to ring dermatology and they should be able to tell you what's happening.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)

  • Hi Angie,

Thank you so much for your reply! I tried calling them and got to number 8 in the queue and it hit 5 and they cut me off. Very frustrating. Hopefully I will hear something tomorrow. The Dr did say if it was good news they would call me instead of bringing me in, so I'm hoping that's why they cancelled? Positive thinking and all that.  I can't thank you enough for responding. It is so worrying. I wish you all the best with your health and will update as soon as I hear anything. Aly xx
