What’s the chance?

I've had some problems health wise for almost 4 months now. I've had blood tests and stool samples and a colonoscopy to rule out bowel issues etc. I'm currently waiting for my internal ultrasound which is a week away, but I'm causing myself more issues being paranoid that it's ovarian cancer. I'm only 22 and I have a daughter and I'm petrified.
My symptoms started with things like unusual bowel movements, acid reflux and slight abdominal pain with bloating. In these months the pain has been more present slightly left abdomen between my hips. I've had hip pain with leg pain and a weird pressure on my bladder sort of reminds me of when there was a baby squashing it ( pregnancy is not an option). My appetite is off, and I've been eating less but somehow feel like I'm gaining weight still. I've also had some circulation issues however that seems completely unrelated. I've done so much research, trying to find something else that fits my symptoms perfectly, but other than cysts, which don't completely line up, I've not found any other possible explanation. My blood tests for cancer markers came back negative, but my doctor made the mistake of telling me that it doesn't always mean you're in the clear.
I know until I've had this scan I won't know for sure, but I just wanted the opinion of someone who's not a scared and paranoid young google-er

  • Hello Kpsauk22 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I see from your post that you are worried about some symptoms you have. The best thing to do is to continue to discuss these problems with your doctor. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online forum, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better.

In the meantime, I know it's really hard - and we all do it - but please try to resist googling your symptoms as this will only make you feel more worried.

If you find yourself too bothered though and feel like asking someone with a medical background some questions, feel free to ring our team of nurses. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
