Unsure what to expect after colposcopy

Had a colposcopy yesterday due to the person preforming it being in training didn't hand the best experience or reassurance it was a follow up from last years one where they found low grade cells & an inconclusive biopsy.
Yesterday I wasn't told what the cells look like but after asking the main gynaecologist doing the training said she wasn't sure but doesn't look like high grade but couldn't say for sure & they took 3 biopsy's compared to 1 which I've had every other time feeling very down an anxious has anyone else had 3 biopsies taken ? I'm worried this isn't normal & they have seen more than there letting on & don't want to worry me it's also worth mentioning my cervix looked awful blood at the top & one of the gynaecologist pulled a face when they came in & looked at the screen as if to say that looks bad :( ontop of it all feeling very sore & crampy I know we're meant to say colposcopy's are not that bad but after yesterday I've been left feeling very down & anxious don't get me wrong I'm glad I went but so scared now I have cancer & that I should of pushed for another biopsy last year after the inconclusive result.

  • Hello clh91

I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling very anxious after your colposcopy earlier this week. It's so easy to read more into people's expressions and words when we're feeling anxious so it's understandable that you're worried.

I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to chat things through with them. I'm sure they'll be happy to offer any support and advice they can ahead of your results. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
