Been referred to breast clinic

So I found a lump under my left armpit about 4 weeks ago, with Christmas etc I didn't get to see my GP until last Friday 6th Jan. I booked the appointment as I'd also noticed part of my left breast felt harder than usual. Anyway went to the GP thinking oh it'll be possible infection or something. During the GP examining me she also found a second lump in my armpit and completed and urgent referal to the breast clinic.

I quickly received my appointment which is a week today. I'm so worried that it's breast cancer as my father's maternal and paternal family history had alot of breast cancers. Im still shell shocked with mixed emotions. I'm trying to stay positive especially for my family but honestly I'm struggling and feeling very lost.

Will biopsies be taken from my armpit or will they remove the lumps to test?

I have so many questions that I know can't be answered until I go to my appointment.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi AnnieLee,

I hear you about feeling lost. I am in the same boat I found a lump sunday went to Drs yesterday and I have an appointment tomorrow. I haven't told my husband because last year he was diagnosed with cancer and his latest bloods came back with some problems so they trying to work out why. But we are concerned the cancer may be back. So I don't want him worrying about me.

Try and stay positive, don't let the catastrophising gremlins in. You can only deal with what you know and can deal with the rest when you know more.

    stay strong.

  • Good morning AnnieLee

So sorry you're going through so much worry and anxiety it certainly isn't a fun time!  I myself found a small painless lump in my left armpit a few months ago and didn't think much of it, I done my usual female checks over Christmas to find it had grown, so I booked appointment with my gp which was last Tuesday 3rd Jan who found the lump straight away and found a few other lumps in my breasts too.  So referred onto 2week cancer pathway breast clinic, I got a call 2 days later the Thursday for an appointment for Monday just gone which I attended, had mammogram and ultrasound scan and then an ultrasound guided core biopsy done as the man I see didn't like the size or shape of my lump! Not exactly reassuring! After that was done I was given slip to give to reception on my way out and the receptionist asked if I agreed to results by phone which I did so she said I have an open all day phone appointment next Tuesday 17th which also happens to be my son's birthday.

Really wish you all the best with yours I honestly do

    X

  • Hello Mumoftwo35

please can you share an update as I am having the exact same symptoms as you

  • Hi Amy

  •

    Hi AnnieLee,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Can I ask how you got on at your appointment? You will find that it is always helpful to write down a list of questions before any appointment, as these change from one appointmnt to the next and it is all too easy to forget something important during your consultation.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 13 years and am always here if I can help in any way.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Confuzzled,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to thear that you are in this unenvious situation too. I hope that your appointment at the breast clinic went well. It sounds as if you have a lot going on between yourself and your husband and could certainly do without a cancer diagnosis yourself.

You are quite correct, in that no amount of worry will change anything and I sinceely hope that nothing untoward will be/has been found.

Please keep in touch and remember, that we are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
