Painless Lymph Node - Weight loss and itchy patch

Hi all,

Going out of my mind a little bit, especially as it's the weekend and can’t see a doctor for a number of days.

I have a painless lymph node on my jaw (below the cheekbone). It's completely painless and feels like the size of a pea. I noticed on Friday night. I am not ill at all and not suffering with anything underlying or long term.

Coupled with this is I've lost about 8 lbs in three months. I've also had a patch of itchy skin that comes and goes for about two years also.

I’m going out of my mind thinking I've just connected dots and I've let it go on this long and god knows where it could have gone to.

I’m a slim 33 year old.

Any reassurances work would be completely appreciated.

Thanks, Ben

  • Hello Ben

I'm sorry ot hear that you have some health concerns at the moment. Hopefully you were able to contact your GP surgery today but if you've not already done so then do give them a call. Your GP will be the best person to assess your symptoms and offer some reassurance.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Ben,

Your concerns are valid, do see the Dr who will examin you and possibly will send you for an appointment to firstly see an ear nose and and throat specialist. They may put a camera down your throat then later do a needle biopsy to take a sample of the node.

It may be nothing to worry about which I hope it is! I had exactly the same and had hodgkns lymphoma, took a few months to get all the tests, had treatment and now in remission. Let us know how you get on and if you need a chat... Wishing you luck.

  • Hi Rosie and Jenn,

I saw the GP and she felt around asked a lot of questions and is convinced it is nothing to worry about. It's her practice so I am inclined to believe her. She sent me for some blood checks however to look at the weight loss. Thyroid, diabetes etc.

Glad to hear you're in remission Rosie. Do you mind me asking what your symptoms were?
