Too much at once!

I found a lump on Friday, saw GP Monday who confirmed lump with surrounding lumps and made the referral - My clinic appointment is next week, 12th.
I have had lumps before - very lucky to be nothing just a case of lumpy boobs.
Family history of breast cancer in mums side (both mum and nan) before 30 so i've been extra cautious with checking my boobs and getting to know my body. Just turned 29, so naturally worried it's 'my turn'.
Have recently had extremely painful and swollen neck glands, pain and swelling comes and goes but been going on for around 6 weeks now. GP first said viral infection, second telephone appt they agreed to do exam and then said it's muscular. I didn't agree - I have connective tissue disorder so lots of symptoms are easily chucked in that box. Now wondering if it's been my warning signs!
Tricky as I also have an impacted tooth in maxillo facial region so could be that too.
Also recently stopped contraception so could be hormonal changes.
Menstrual cycle is up the wall - First no period for months, now been bleeding for 11 days! Do have PCOS and endo additional.

Potentially pregnant but too early for tests to detect and not thinking it's likely because of the prolonged bleeding but stranger things have happened.

Clearly winding myself up, racking my brains wondering what this could be attributed to - Probably a defense mechanism to protect myself from jumping down the deep dark rabbit hole.

If you read this far, thank you - Didn't know where else to vent.

  • Hello JosQuartz and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

You can vent all you want here - that's what we are here for, to put your thoughts down on paper and I hope that it helped to write down everything you feel you have been going through. You did the right thing in getting this lump checked immediately and it's great that your GP is being thorough and has made the referral. It's great that you have yourself been cautious and regularly checked your breasts given your family history. Just a few days to wait now before your clinic appointment and I thought I would share these tips with you to help you cope while waiting for important news.

You've had a lot going on all at the same time and it's normal that you are feeling anxious as you are waiting to find out more. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is probably hard for you to do this at the moment as you are understandably keen to have answers but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
