Did anyone have a growth on their cervix with a lot of pain and discharge and it turned out to be something benign? I'm worried. Especially because I've had precancer on cervix before

I'm sorry to hear what's troubling you at the moment Wild_Flower but I hope it helps to know that we have many members who have contended with cervical polyps so you are not alone and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.
I'm not sure from your post if you have booked an appointment with your GP or nurse to get this checked out, but if you haven't just yet, do be sure to do so as they are in the best position to let you know if this is any cause for concern.
Hopefully that won't be the case but it's always good to get any unusual or persistent symptoms looked at, if only for peace of mind.
We're thinking of you Wild_Flower and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.
Kind regards,

Thank you. The GP found a 'growth' which she thinks is a polyp. I have a gynaecologist appointment soon. I am hoping they remove it because I have so many symptoms and I'm wondering if it's that causing it.
Thsnk you x
Hi wildflower, how long do you have to wait till your gynae appointment? I've just been told I've got a cervical polyp and I'm waiting on a date. The nurse didn't seem to have much idea how long I'd have to wait.

Sorry for the delay. They said 'months" to wait to see a gynaecologist.
However, since my post on here, I went back to GP and another doctor looked at it and, to cut a long story short, it turns out it's not a polyp.
It's a 'growth' but definitely not a polyp. I was hoping it was a polyp as I know they are common and usually benign.
So I've had biopsy. Waiting for results. Still not seen a gynaecologist, a specialist nurse did a biopsy when she looked at it.
Do you have symptoms?
So I suppose you're waiting on those results. I'm not 100% sure mine is a polyp either as the nurse called in a sexual health nurse to check. I don't know whether that was because she was unsure whether it was a polyp or just because it's apparently quite large? I don't have any symptoms at the moment.
Yes I'm waiting for results, but I have a lot of symptoms.
While you are waiting for your referral, you could make a GP appointment and ask a doctor - or another nurse - to look at it, for another opinion.I know two people have looked at yours already, but there's no harm in another set of eyes looking at it. That's what I would do in your shoes.
i will let you know when I get my results. Another week yet.
You hold onto the fact you don't have symptoms, which I think is a good sign. I'm not sure how big polyps can get.
I've just rang about my appointment and they said I'm down as 'urgent' but unlikely to get appointment before end of March! I didn't know I was going to be marked as 'urgent' and it's panicked me a bit. Is that the same as the 2-week pathway (but NHS so stretched that it's more like 6 weeks) or is 'urgent' not as urgent (if you get what I mean)????
The two week pathway is different to urgent I think. If it was the two week pathway then I think you would be seen within the two weeks. I think urgent just means 'not months, as soon as possible.'
I think two week pathway means cancer suspected, so hold on to the fact they never referred you under that protocol.
When you get your appointment date, you could ring the hospital and ask to be contacted if there's a cancellation. I did that once and I ended up being seen the very next day because there was a cancellation.
My results will be in next week and I'm so nervous.
Its awful, isn't it, not knowing and waiting. I hate it. I understand how you feel.
Hi Wild-Flower,
Just wondering if you've received your results yet? I'm in a very similar situation to you, currently waiting for my 2 week referal appointment this Thursday.

Hey Lemon
Sorry for the delay. I got my result and it's benign. But I have to go back in for them to look at the abnormal area again as there are conflicting opinions on what exactly it is, and so it might be something that needs treating anyway.
What do you have? A polyp? Is that what your GP thinks it is?
just realised you probably had your hospital appointment by now. What did they say?
