Strike action , worried about my appointments

Hi , I have appointments on the 18th&19th January the two days nurses are striking. The appointments are for a scan and a bone marrow biopsy . These were booked on the 22nd December when I had a hospital consultation with the Haemotologist .

worried these will be rescheduled perhaps depending on which NHS trusts are taking part in striking.

I haven't heard from the hospital apart from appointment letters etc . I'm worried as I wouldn't want to wait forever to have these tests , my anxiety is quite high at the moment !

Has anyone been contacted?

best wishes Louise

    Hi Lou,

I have just been watching the news on television and there was a professor talking about the strikes and how they may impinge on cancer care. He said that they are doing their best to keep cancer services running as normal. However, this may ary from one trust to another.

Why don't you phone your breast care nurse or your consultant's secretary and ask what the position is in your area.

I hope that they will go ahead as planned. Please let us know.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine ,

Thank you for your kind reply . I'm going to call the hospital for some reassurance and information, hopefully my appointments will go ahead as normal.

    HI Lou,

Did you phone the hospital and if so, were they able to tell you whether or not your appointments are going ahead?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine , thank you for your message. I did phone the. Hospital and my appointments are going ahead as normal which I'm relieved about to be honest. I would rather have the bone marrow biopsy carried out as soon as possible it's causing me a lot of anxiety !
It's not until the 19th so not to long to wait along with a scan and a follow up appointment with the consultant.

    Hope your doing ok xx
