Worried about cervical cancer

So to start I haven't been diagnosed...

I've had issues for a around 2 years or so and seen the gp and discussed the issues I was having and we thought I was peri menopausal (I'm only just 38) I have pain, heavy periods, stomach issues and also been fatigued and having really bad migraines. The dr thought if we dealt with the migraines it would help everything else until they suggested having a coil fitted also might help. Two weeks ago I went to have it fitted and the dr couldn't fit the coil as there is a polyp in the way. She then referred me to the hospital under the 2 week "cancer pathway" I then saw the gynaecologist consultant 2 days later and he said it's not an 'average' looking polyp and wants it removing asap he also did the liquid thing they do on the cervix and it all turned white including the 'polyp' I'm booked in to have it removed and they have said they really need to do biopsies and will be sending everything off for testing.

Sorry I've gone on, just wondering if anyone else has had similar and what the outcome was?

Thanks for reading

  • So it's been 2 weeks and I'm still yet to get any results, but my gp has called and asked me to go in on 2nd February for a check up with them. I logged onto the NHS app to find an appointment booked with the gynaecologist in June that was posted on there the day before my operation!?!?! I'm so baffled as to what is happening. My partner thinks I should be calling them up to ask what's happening but they didn't give a time frame for results so don't want to be that person that's causing more issues on an already strained NHS!

  • Just to update, I've had my results and they say I had benign tumours... phew! Only issues i have now is that I've been bleeding since they did the procedure 3 weeks ago, I'm exhausted constantly and also still having awful bloating, the most horrendous cramps both in the pelvic area and in my back and just don't have any appetite still (I had these on and off before the procedure but feel like they are now worse) I have an appointment next week with my gp but thinking I need to see someone before then.... I'm sitting with a hot water bottle 90% of the day!

  • Oh dear Grace, you're going through it all at the moment.

Have you managed to see anyone else yet?

I go in to have my hysterectomy on 27th Feb.

Each week I've got a different appointment with different people on the run up to the surgery.

It's all getting a bit real now. X

  • Hi, sorry it's taken so long to reply. Hope your operation went well and your feeling better. I've had a few weeks of my head not being in the right place. Since getting the news it wasn't cervical cancer the symptoms haven't eased and I went back to the drs who thought I had an infection so had antibiotics for that as well as for a uti (blood and electrolytes in my urine but no infection) so I had a scan and they have now found a few things on my ovaries and have asked me to have a second scan to look again and bloods for cancer markers so feel like I'm going back and forth all the time without anything conclusive still....

  • Oh my goodness, Grace!

I'm not surprised you're head is all over the spot! That's crap news.

I'll keep my fingers and legs crossed for you.

    Keep in touch.
