"Busy Breasts"

I have posted before about my ongoing breast issues. I initially had a 5 cm fibroadenoma in my right breast which was removed and biopsied. It contained lobular carcinoma in situ so I am being closely monitored. It seems to take an age to have answers, understand what's going on. All I know my breasts no longer feel normal for me.They feel like lumpy porridge. I have fibroadenomatoid change with microcysts and PASH like changes in the stroma. I recently had a mammogram/ ultrasound and then had to get another mammogram done the same visit because of the non conclusive images. Apparently I have busy breasts that are dense so I might be having an MRI next. There was some  microcalcificatin in the left breast. I wasn't unduly worried but on my first ever mammogram I had bilateral benign microcalcification. Confused, as there was no mention of this being seen on my latest mammogram., apart from the small area of calcification in my left breast. Can calcification just disappear?! I am having a consultation at the end of Jan to discuss treatment and answer any of my questions.

I am confused, busy breasts, what on earth does it mean? , I would have thought at 51 my breasts would have calmed down.

Any help to help me understand all this is greatly appreciated.

I feel for everyone posting here, as it's confusing, worrying while waiting in limbo/ test results etc.it's just so frustrating when you hear medical terms that you don't understand.

Try and stay positive everyone, at least the doctors know what/ why they are doing tests etc.

Take care, best wishes

  • Hello Guineapiglover

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having ongoing worries about your breast health and that you're now waiting for a possible MRI. Hopefully this will give the team the information they need to make an accurate diagnosis.

I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to chat things through with them ahead of your appointment at the end of January. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can along with helping you think about any questions you might want to as the Consultant. If you'd like to talk with our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040. Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm (excluding bank holidays).

    Best wishes,
