Very confused - please help

Hello!

at the end of November I was sent into hospital with suspected appendicitis. During an ultrasound they spotted what they thought was a growth on my cervix (cervical fibroid) so I was sent for an MRI. I went to get my results for this only to have an oncology nurse there to tell me that the growth was not actually a growth, but that the MRI had showed up enlarged lymph nodes in my pelvic & groin that they hadn't expected to see. This was noted in my MDT report at 'likely pathological'. The next plan of action was to send me for a PET scan within two weeks.

Tomorrow it will have been two weeks. Today I received a phone call from my consultants secretary saying that my case was discussed again in the MDT meeting today and that they would like me to come in tomorrow. I still haven't had my scan. What could this be for? Is it positive news or has somebody else spotted something worrying? I am concerned that they will backtrack on doing the PET scan and that cancer won't be ruled out.

Has anybody had experience of going to see your consultant again before any further tests have taken place? I am just trying to brace myself...

  • Sorry to hear you're going through this. It does seem like a worrying time. I can't give you any clues as to what tomorrow's appointment will entail but if you have genuine concerns that they won't give you the scan and it will cause you worry/distress make that clear at the appointment.

I wish you all the very best
