Lymph gland

I apologise in advance for the long story.  I got a lump in my neck in May. Doctor referred me for a nonurgent ultrasound. Fast forward ti September and lump suddenly gets bigger. Its hard and immovable. I go for a ultrasound and then  I am referred for an mri. In the meantime I begin to get shortness of breath. In hospital I an diagnosed with heart failure. My gp then phones me to say I will have to have a biopsy because MRI shows possible metastatic cancer in Lymph gland. I am now totally  confused. Ct scan for blood clot shows no tumour in lungs. Ent scope is clear. I have needle biopsy done and results should be in soon. My main question is where would a cancer spread from to a lump in neck under jaw. It hasn't grown since September could it be anything else.

Thank you

  • Hello Jules5817

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns over the last year and that most recently you've now been told that you have possible metastatic cancer in the lymph gland.

It's positive to hear that your CT scan and ENT scope didn't show any immediate cause for concern but obviously it's understandable that you're feeling anxious and confused.

I know that many of our members will understand how difficult this period of waiting and uncertainty can be. The unknown can be a scary prospect to face and it's easy to worry about possible outcomes. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the needle biopsy results and the team will then be able to give you some clear information and possibly a diagnosis.

If you think it may help to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm (excluding bank holidays).

Keep in touch Jules and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
