Surgery to remove ovarian cyst

So today I got my MRI results and I have been booked in for surgery to have a cyst removed from my ovary. They are unsure whether it is benign or malignant from the MRI as the cyst had both a mass and fluid inside it. I don't really know what to make of it. I don't know whether to take it as good news or bad news. My bloods came back fine but they've sent some more off today to be sure. They are going to test the cyst once it's been removed. I'm having keyhole surgery. I am only 26 and a bit worried. Has this happened to anyone? Was it the worst news or better news? How long did it take you to recover from surgery? I have a 2 year old son that I need to care for

  • Hello Meganw18

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting for surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

Try to focus on the positives and what you do know. It's good news that the MRI didn't reveal any immediate cause for concern.

I know that we've had ladies post here on the forum previously who have found themselves in similar circumstances so hopefully they will reply to share their stories with you. In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm (excluding bank holidays).

I hope all goes smoothly with your operation and recovery. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
