LLETZ

Hi,

Looking for any advice or reassurance. Had a smear carried out last July to find out I had low grade dyskaryosis and positive HPV. Invited for colposcopy - colposcopist said it was a cervical ectropion and no treatment was required. I was asked to return July this year for a follow up smear. Results came back again positive HPV and now high grade dyskaryosis. Invited for another colposcopy months later but this time for a punch biopsy as well. Results came back stating there were no abnormalities but they were referring my case to the MDT meeting. Weeks later they'd agreed I'd need LLETZ. Returned for the procedure today and it was carried out by the same colposcopist as my last appointment. She clarified that the results from the punch biopsy were actually inconclusive (not what the letter had stated) and that the laboratory couldn't identify anything, nor could the clinicians during the MDT meeting, so they requested the samples to be checked again and it was inconclusive hence having to then have the LLETZ.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? What were the outcomes? The colposcopist mentioned if they're happy with the results then I'd need a follow up smear in 6 months. Would I have to wait to try to conceive until after this?

The colposcopist and I were discussing how confusing this is because I have no symptoms still that would be of any concern. I'm now 30 and my husband and I are desperate for another child. I understand we need to wait until results are back, but I feel so worried and stressed the longer we're waiting for any answers that we may not be able to.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • I had lletz 3 times. Its not nice. Third time i got an infection.

I was told by the nurse who carried out the colposcopy i needed to have my cervix opened and recommended a general anaesthetic. Whilst waiting I read an article about eating from the sea. I ate wild fish, seaweed just about anything i could find. Durining the minor op they couldnt find any evidence of hpv . The virus after years had gone.
