Stomach pains & lump on cervix. Worried about my symptoms

I'm 25 years old and had my second baby 12 weeks ago.. I was given the depo injection straight away and was told spotting in-between periods was normal.. I have recently been getting pain down there and in my lower stomach and lower back and when I checked my cervix feels very very low and I can feel a lump on my cervix too. I keep spotting all the time and am having lots of discharges which is brown and sometimes tinged with blood aswell. I'm waiting for an appointment with my doctor but starting to worry. I had my first smear last year and was positive for hpv and abnormal cells but when I went to colposcopy appointment appointment said it wasn't bad and i had to be checked yearly.

  • Hello CharlS97

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health concerns at the moment, especially as this should be a time when you're able to relax and enjoy getting to know your new baby.

It's good to hear that you already have an appointment arranged with your GP. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long for this and they will be able to give you some reassurance when you see them.

Twelve weeks is still relatively early for your body to have fully recovered from the pregnancy and labour. Add into that the Depo injection you've had will be impacting your hormones and hopefully things will settle over the coming weeks and months.

If you want to chat through your concerns with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

    Best wishes,
