Very anxious and still waiting

Had a positive FIT on 9th Dec, was asked to do sample as my bloods showed me as being extremely anemic.

Rapid access referral in the 2 week and had a telephone consultation on 19th from the colorectal department.  Was told i would have to have a camera down throat and up the other end. Was told would hear and be in between 2 and 3 weeks.

Haven't heard anything else. Not sleeping and very anxious.

What time spans are others experiencing?

Any advice

  • Hello Pugmummy

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns recently and that you're now waiting for further investigations. We know that for many people this period of waiting can be difficult and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

It's good to hear that you've already had your initial assessment appointment and that the clinician you spoke with said you should hear about the tests within 3 weeks. If you've not heard from the hospital about an appointment date by January 9th then there's certainly no harm in giving the secretary a call and asking about waiting times.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them. I know they'll be happy to offer any support and advice they can ahead of your tests. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

    Best wishes,
