Fast track to Breast Clinic

Hi there,

I am 35F and noticed my right breast feeling heavier and different in august. I left it to see if it would go away and to see how I felt on and off my cycle. It all got a lot worse. 8 weeks ago I notice how much right breast is drooping low like it's been weighed down and the nipple is almost pointing down with it - it's not perky like the left. The constant ache pain in the same region started 2 weeks ago. Needless to say I went to my GP and now I am being fast tracked to the breast clinic. I don't have a lump as far as I know. But I do have thickening that is now really painful when prodded. The GP said I do also have some thickening on the left breast. But my right breast feels completely different. I can't explain it but something just doesn't feel right at all. I'm not someone to over react (hence why I waited) but I don't know if anyone has had an experience like this? My right areola has also gotten very large. I have never had kids but the position of my right breast looks very droopy and different.
I have had a mirena for 15 years (4 different ones) not sure if that is a factor.

Should I be concerned? I deal with a few chronic illnesses but nothing has ever felt this "not right" before as it does in my right breast. I'm legit worried.

  • Hello missamerica87

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some concerns about your breast health recently. It was exactly the right thing to go and see your GP and it's good to know that they have referred you to get things checked.

It may help you to know that the large majority of people seen in breast clinics are not diagnosed with cancer so try to think positively. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and the team will be able to give you some reassurance on the day.

If you'd like to chat with our nurses, the office reopens on Wednesday 28th to Friday the 30th Dec 9 am to 5 pm. Then closed 5 pm 30th Dec, back on 3rd Jan 2023 to 6th Jan, as normal 9 am to 5 pm and they're available on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi miss America

    welcome

i had exactly the heaviness no lump whatsoever I  didn't feel unwell or anything, I got diagnosed in June , hopefully it's not the same for you you just never no until biopsy is done . I was told thickening at my first clinic appointment but also told it was suspicious after the mammogram

since June I had lunpectomy and radiotherapy I'm feeling back to my normal self it was a massive shock don't get me wrong but BC if caught early is highly treatable.

plsase don't worry to much until you have gone through the process a lot of people get fast tracked and there is not big at all wrong .

Please stay to the forum I don't come on now very rarely o only just logged on I haven't for a long time . Xx

    hsve a good Christmas x

  • Thank you so much. I'm surprisingly not really scared, if it is I know I caught it early and if it isn't well then they have a baseline for me for future scans etc. Just something really feels wrong on my right breast - I can't explain it and now there's a constant weird pain and all I can describe it as "weirdness" in half my breast. And there's not much that would explain it, since an infection wouldn't have kept getting worse steadily for months.

Your reply has reassured me either way and I appreciate it. Glad you were able to get the help you need and well done for being such a fighter. May I ask what kind of breast cancer you got diagnosed with?

    Wishing you a wonderful Christmas.

  • I had grade 2 invasive ductal her2 negative.

it all happened so fast I finished treatment nov 8 th

it honestly wasn't as bad as I ever imagined o just found myself lucky in a unlucky situation and so glad I went to get checked   .

the heaviness was bad my dog jumped on me and it was a big ouch ,I also thought I could feel like a pulse if that makes sense , please don't think this is going to be the same for hype but please deffo go to get checked to rule it all out so you can then relax x

Stay to forum it's how I kept sane the ladies hete are so warming xx

  • Thank you! Yes I'm not jumping to conclusions yet! I deal with things by gathering information so I'm not taken by surprise either way. But I'm pretty relaxed about it. Will go through the cycle and I'm sure they'll get me sorted either way. I just want this uncomfortable feeling to go. And yes I relate to the pulsing feeling. But could be a number of different things like you said.

thanks again for reaching out and congrats on finishing treatment!! Have a lovely lovely Christmas xx
