Possible Vulva cancer

Hi, i am 30 years old,I've been referred by my gp to the gynecologist after I found a lump on my labia and abnormal skin surrounding the area.

I've also started having lower abdominal pains and lower back pains which are getting more regular and more painful.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm so scared and don't know what to do whilst I wait for my appointment!! My daughter is still young I can't think about anything else

Thank you xx

  • Hi

I was diagnosed with Vulva cancer in October last year. I know that this must be an extremely worrying time for you but try and stay away from Dr Google. What would you say is abnormal about the skin surrounding the lump? Remember that there are lots of things it could be (fungal, viral, bacterial infection...) but our minds often think of the worst thing possible. Try and enjoy your Xmas but I'm here if you have any questions or want to chat.

    Xx

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply to me

I'm sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis and I hope your treatment is going well. There is some skin around the area that is like whitey/yellow bumps which are more on the side of the lump and also a line of hard bumpy skin. I really don't think this can be anything other than cancer with all these different things and scared where else it could have spread to with the abdominal and back pain.

I want to try and enjoy Christmas for my daughter but I can't think of anything else.

Wishing you a lovely Christmas xx

  • Hi

I know this might not make you feel any better but I want you to know that the vulva cancer I was diagnosed with did not present like what you have described. It is typically a slow developing cancer that affects older women and even though I was only 36 when I was diagnosed I had had abnormal smears and HPV since I started having smears at age 25.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

    Xx
