Dermatology first appointment

I searched and searched this forum to put my mind at ease for my first appointment and when I couldn't find anything on it I knew I needed to post my experience!

I attended dermatology the morning of my appoiintment my details were checked and I waited in the waiting room. A doctor called me in and checked my mole he looked at with a dermascope and said it appeared normal but due to it repeatedly scabbing it was best to get it removed and this was going to be done there and then.

I was then taken to another room where I laid on the bed and they cut the mole out using local anaesthetic (awake) and it was stitched - 2 stitches.
It was extremeley painless and should get my results in 6-8 weeks.
They were really reassuring so not too worried!

  • So glad they were able to do the excision at your referral appointment - this only happens when they have the time and facility. It means you won't have to wait for a removal appointment and you will therefore get the results back quicker. Please let us know how you get on and have a good Christmas.
