Worried about lump on labia. Can anyone give me any advice?

Hi, I went to the doctors today, because I've got a lump on the my labia. I thought it was a boil or cyst.

So I was expecting for them to say they would drain it. But my doctor said it wasn't infected & had no fluid.

He said I need to have it surgically removed.
I have also been bleeding in between periods.

I'm a bit worried now. Because at the time I was expecting them to say they would drain it.
so I didn't ask the questions that I have now, because I think I was a bit in shock.

Could someone give me advice please?

  • Hello Leanne-W

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a lump and that you're now waiting on a referral to see a specialist. You did exactly the right thing in seeing your GP but it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what this lump may be.

Don't be afraid to get back in touch with your GP surgery if you have questions you'd like to ask or any further concerns. Hopefully the GP will be able to give you some reassurance.

Our nurse team is out of the office for the festive period. They reopen on Wednesday 28th to 30th Dec 9 am to 5 pm. Then closed 5 pm 30th Dec, back on 3rd Jan 2023 to 6th Jan, as normal 9 am to 5 pm. If you'd like to chat things through with them you can contact them on 0808 800 4040 during opening hours.
