Thick womb lining - hysteroscopy

Hello I am 56 years old and I don't know if I have gone through the menopause or not but I assume I have, no flushes or symptoms though. I had some scary news 2 days ago. I had to go for a hysteroscopy and while I was there. They said oh you came in 2018 and I said yes it was a similar thing, thickening of my womb lining. The doctor said did you ever get your results back and I said now you mention it I don't think I ever did. They said in 2018 they would phone me in 4 weeks but I chased via email 9 weeks afterwards and nobody got back to me or to my doctor ( I found an old email). She apologised and said they should have been checking on you every 6 months. So 4 years later, out of the blue I had a bleed, I had one in Janaury of this year too but did not do anything about it. This time because I am unable to have penetrable sex with my husband as I am in pain. I thought I'd better go and see about it. During the hysteroscopy, the doctor took some tissue but was unable to get through my cervix due to too much tissue!. So they are going to book me in and I will be anaesthetized so that they can do the biopsy properly. I am now of course very worried as a lot of time has passed.  Reading up about cancer of the womb, bleeding and pain during sex are symptoms. I am now waiting to hear when I need to go into hospital. I would love to know how often you are bleeding, is it a lot or just now and again. As I say I bled in January then again in November for about 10 days but not heavy at all quite light.

  • Hi , I'm 53 nxt year and when through the menopause about 3 and a half years ago my last menstrual  period was just over 3 n half years ago .then  a little over 2yrs ago I had my first random post menopause bleed it was really heavy bright red blood ...then it was about 6mths before I had another .. both times th bleeding was just 1 day ...I put it down to stress and things I was going through...I then started having a pink watery type discharge and heavy bleeds more frequently over the last year  bleed every 5 or 6 weeks with pink watery in between .. finally spoke to a gp when i started having pain in my hip and legs last week  ..so was sent for a internal scan today were thickening was found the consultant sent   straight into the pre assessment clinic and  immediate blood test samples taken ...before leaving consultant she said i would be called in for the procedure to take biopsy while under general aesthetic within the nxt 2 weeks ....non of the heavy bleeds i have last longer than a day .....

  • Thank you for your response. Did you have cancer or are you waiting to hear? x

  • Going in for a biopsy under general aesthetic on Friday,  so I wont know anything more until after that ...

  • Hi just reading your previous post, I notice you had pain in your hip. I have been getting this really badly too, just on one side for the last 8 months. I'm having my hysteroscopy in 2 days as they found thickening of lining. Did you find out if this was a cause of your hip pain?

    How are you doing now?
