Is 8 weeks a long time for results

Hi, I had a prostate biopsy following an MRI revealing growths,

the consultant at the biopsy told me it's a 40% chance that it is cancer and I should have results in 2 weeks, it is now 4 weeks and I have been told it's going to be 8 weeks.

My initial referral was 6 months ago, if it is cancer how much can it spread in that time and potentially become untreatable?

i just want to know if I'm going to be here to see my unborn child grow up?

  • Hello Parky2k200

I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting on some biopsy results. It's undoubtedly a worrying time for you at the moment and understandable that you have concerns about the length of time you've been waiting.

In the first instance, it may be worth getting in touch with the hospital PALS team about the length of time you've been waiting. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

You could also give our team of nurses a call for some support. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and information that they can. If you want to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you have some news soon. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
