Shoulder and stomach dull ache when I drink alcohol

In the summer I was on a night out and randomly experienced a dull uncomfortable ache in my shoulders that lasted around 15 minutes then went. I hadn't had it since and I've drank a handful of times since that occurrence . Yesterday I had a koppaberg and had the pain, but it wasn't as intense. Today I had an aperol spritz and I had the pain quite badly straight after drinking it. But those other times I've drank since it hasn't happened so I'm confused.  I also have a small hard lump in my neck that moves when I feel around for it. I'm not sure how long Its been there, I googled the pain in my shoulders, and i saw that it said about Hodgkins lymphoma. Now I'm panicking and going to book an appointment with my doctor to put my mind at ease. Has anyone had the same experience?

  • Hello Angharad11 and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

This is a bit strange and I hope you can find out more soon about what is causing this shoulder ache after you have drunk alcohol. As you've also found this small hard lump in your neck, I think it would be a good idea to book an appointment with your doctor as you suggested just to put your mind at ease. Your GP will be in the best possible position to tell you what it might be so I hope that you manage to book a doctor's appointment soon to discuss all this and that you get the reassurance you need.

Hopefully you will hear from other members of the forum who have had a similar experience and they will be along soon to share their story with you. I remember this kind of issue has been discussed in the forum before as for example on this thread which you are welcome to respond to if you wish.

Everything crossed for you that you manage to talk to your doctor soon and that it turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
