Hypochondriac probably??

Hi, i'm not really sure if this is appropriate to post but i have been so worried and utterly convinced myself i have something wrong so just looking for some reassurance really that it'll be ok.

For the past two months or so I've had this really nasty cough that just hasn't eased off or gotten better in the slightest. I used to get sick pretty often before COVID so just assumed it would go away by itself or was the really horrible chest infection that seems to be making it's way around at the moment. Beginning of december my mum eventually made me go to the GP so she wouldn't have to put up with my complaining (lol) and i got put on a course of antibiotics and sent for a chest x-ray. To be completely honest i just thought i had bronchitis and after my week of antibiotics it would be gone. I'm still waiting for my results from the chest x-ray (been about a week) and waiting for more antibiotics. the only issue is in this time I had this girl come up on my fyp ( believe everything you see on tiktok lol so gen z) and I had essentially all of the same symptoms as her and she got diagnosed with hodgkin lymphoma ( big jump from bronchitis i know) so obviously that took me down the google hole and now i've made myself really really worried.  I have a small, painless but a bit of an ache peasized lump under my arm which i'm quite sure is my lymphnode but i am clueless lol, which i know is normal because my body is clearly fighting an infection of some kind, but i also am having symptoms of extreme fatigue ( i'm talking like sleeping for 17 hours a day) nerve pain in my feet and hands, itchiness on my arms legs neck etc, whenever i've been out recently, i've been sick after drinking alcohol ( which is unlike me at all) nosebleeds etc. a heaviness on my chest ? ( like a big cat has sat on it all night ) i don't know. i'm really worried that i've seen the list of symptoms and just ran with it because i want to convince myself something is wrong, but i honestly wouldn't of linked any of it together if i hadn't seen the symptom list. I think i'm going to mention my swollen lymph node to my gp when my chest x ray comes back (which i think will be clear anyways) just really worrying myself at the moment

thanks for putting up with me and reading it so my friends don't have to haha and i apologise if it doesn't make sense. just needed a little bit of a vent

  • Dearst GeorgMae,

I'm not a doctor, but have a lot of knowledge. Please don't worry. A cough in itself is not enough evidence to suggest any kind of cancer. Let me reassure you of that straight away.

The raised lymph node under your arm is just that. A raised lymph node.

Hodgkin's lymphoma, when it appears, is so brutal in its force and so quick in its appearance, you simply can't mistake it for anything else, my friend.

The good news is, a simple blood test will determine if you have any problems.

But a cough and a raised lymph node do not make Hodgkin's.btw did you know it's possible to have a cough after a mere virus for weeks?

I do so hope this all helps, my friend. You deserve some peace of mind.
