Has anyone been told it is cancer after waiting 6 weeks biop

Hi all, 

The doctors said 5/6 for the result from a biopsy on the breast to come back? I'm now at 3 weeks and partners saying thank god must be OK as if it was bad news you'd know by now? Anyone been given bad news post 3 weeks of biopsy? I kind of think this too but I know how incredibly behind the NHS is and maybe it could still come back bad news

  • I'm sorry you're having to wait so long for your biopsy results Kate.

    I know this must be very frustrating, and worrying too, but fingers crossed you receive good news when the time comes.

    Hopefully some of our members who have been in this situation will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    I'm not really sure this will help, but I'm in similar situation as you but the other direction. I was told my colonoscopy biopsy results would take 4-6 weeks, but today they've been uploaded after 11 days so now I'm worried this means something serious has shown up. 

    However, this may reassure you that when I had a colposcopy, my results were sent back a lot quicker to say everything was fine (other than inflammation) but no cancer. I was told could be up to 4 weeks but I was told just under 2 weeks. 

    I guess what I'm trying to say is that the wait time can't really determine the outcome of results as I think it can depend on various factors. 

    The wait is honestly horrendous and it's the worst part. Take care of yourself!

    Thank you so much for your reply and fingers crossed your results are OK! It's such a pain isn't it. I go from been totally OK thinking surely  I'd know by now if it was a concern to absolute panic

    just wish I'd hear something soon.x

    I waited 5 weeks for my post surgery biopsies to be reported fortunately they were benign. 
    I hope you a similar result.

    try to relax and keep busy. Easier said than done try not to Google as they only give worst cases and not the ones like me
