suspicious mole biopsy

Hi everyone! I just got my mole biopsy results back so i thought i would share them here, as this forum has been a great help when going though this process apologies for the long post!

i first noticed the dodgy appearance of a mole (on my leg) in july. i knew it had been there since i was very young but i couldn't remember what it had always looked like, so naturally i started to panic. i (stupidly) started to google, and this just made everything worse. the mole had all of the ABCD criteria (sort of looked like a fried egg; uneven border with a darker dot in the middle), and although it wasn't evolving i was so worried that it had changed months ago and i hadn't noticed, and that it would be too late.

i tried to ignore it for about a month, just monitoring it for any changes, but i couldn't stop googling and worrying about it, so i phoned my GP. she had me email her some pictures and agreed that it looked worrying so referred me to the dermatologist. within a week i had an appointment with the dermatologist. she had a look at it with (what i assume was) a dermoscope. she said it wasn't cancerous but i could have it removed, as it did show some features of a cancerous mole, and because of where it was i might not notice any changes right away. she said because it wasn't cancerous, my appointment would be in 4-6 weeks.

i was so relieved at first, but i started to worry again; how can she tell it's not cancerous just by looking at it? anyway, 4 weeks and 3 days later i got it removed!! the procedure was so quick and painless, in and out in 20 mins. 3 weeks later, i got the results back through the post to say it was mildly atypical, and that no follow up is required! i'm so so relieved, and i know it's easier said than done but please don't google things! it only made it 10x worse for me! i hope this post can bring some relief to anyone going through something similar :)
