Suspected Blood Cancers

The past year I'd noticed lumps appearing and since October I've been having persistent symptoms making me miserable. So tired I'm fighting to keep my eyes open in the day despite having 12 hours sleep at night and napping around 5-8 hours average during the day, I still find myself nodding off inbetween. Hot flushes that seem to get more intense and sweaty at night, my shoulders, legs and scalp have been itching non stop and I'm so clumsy due to dizziness. I went to my GP about it 2 days ago, she found 6 lumps in total on my body, all of them swollen lymph nodes. I had a blood test yesterday and my GP got the results today, she called me and said she's referring me to haematology and I'll see them within 2 weeks to investigate/rule out any cancers of the blood as she's really concerned all my symptoms points towards it and my blood test showed nothing else that could be causing my symptoms. Has anybody else got a similar experience they can shed some light on? Could possibly explain what happens next? I'm starting to grow concerned, I'm only 22 and I have 2 young children

  • Hi , you will be sent for an ultrasound and then pending the results from that be sent for a biopsy.I was in a similar situation in October. I had a ultrasound sound then biopsy and then a CT scan , that seems the order things are done.

Am 37 with 2 kids and was diagnosed with Hodkins Lymphoma, I couldn't believe it xx but don't worry it could be anything x but it feels like your on a rollercoaster of emotions.

Try and not worry , I know its easier said than done x If you need anything just send me a message x

  • Hi, Thankyou. My GP rang me yesterday to say that my blood film results where they look at my red and white blood cells etc came back strange and she wants to re-do it Monday and haematology rang me to say I have an appointment Tuesday. Do you mind me asking what your symptoms were leading up to your diagnosis? X

  • Honestly my only symptoms were night sweats and thought it was linked to early menopause.I found two lumps in my neck and went the Dr straight away , all my bloods came back fine except for raised ESR levels which was inflammation markers, and from there have been to lots of appointments and then the diagnosis.

It's been a whirlwind to be honest, but glad am on treatment and on the path to recovery.

  • Oh wow, my GP said my inflammation markers were raised too. I'm glad to hear you're on the right path to getting better, I wish you the best. Thankyou for talking to me about it x
