Terrified I have bowel cancer

Hi everyone

im probably the worst person on earth to have any signs or symtoms, as I have health anxiety (previous pts after a haemorrhage 8 years ago).

I've had , what the doctors have assured me, IBS D for around 10 years. I've had blood tests and a stool test over the years, and thankfully all came back clear.

during covid I found out that I had a rectocele, grade 3, and a cystocele - slightly smaller (prolapses). This can cause my previous ibs D to become Constipation, but not very often.

Since my rectocele has got worse I have noticed every 6-11 weeks I'll have some red bleeding on the tissue and on my poo (it's on the poo - the poo isn't red). (Since March-march, June, September and November) I get a sharp feeling, like glass, then I'll know I'll have a bleed- and there it is. It's usually the once and maybe a tiny bit the next day. I usually find if I'm not hydrated enough or eaten the wrong foods- ie takeaway , and when I have spoken to the doctors it has been put down to a fissure or piles without an examination. I've never had a colonoscopy or flexi sigmoid.  I'm hoping my rectocele is what is causing this issue .

I've had some headaches , which I've put down to hormones (as I came on my period a few days later), too much gaming and caffeine- but im scared stiff. I've read that you don't have to be in pain, that red blood can mean bowel cancer, and before you know it- it's too late. I feel pain elsewhere in my body, and my mind is in overdrive thinking- maybe I have cancer and it's already spread.

I've tried for a week to get an appointment for the doctors, most recently 200 times today, and they have all gone- just don't know what to do, if I'm over reacting, if I even do have signs .. sorry for the post

  • You should definitely see a doctor, but for what it's worth (and I am no expert), the fact that you are able to tell when it's coming because of the sharp feeling like glass makes it really sound like a fissure or maybe piles. I doubt that cancer would cause that. Again, I'm no expert, but...that really sounds like there is a cut or something there that is causing the blood.
