Colorectal issues

Partner had successful treatment for very early stage bowel cancer (caught by screening, removed + on routine follow up) Made me hyper aware of my own health. Over past 3 months I've had abdominal pain/softer stool, and CT/Ultrasound & qFIT all, thankfully, clear and pain subsided. However, past 7-10 days I've had mushy stool again + one episode of bright red blood on wiping.  Seeing GP next week, but hoping for advice on what to ask so as not to appear like a problem patient. I admit to having anxiety, but am also worried something is wrong and may be missed or advanced due to the 3 months since I first had any discomfort.

  • Please go to your doctor. It probably wont be cancer but get yourelf checked out just in case.

Only the experts can tell you what it is. My nurse friends came up with all sorts of diagnoses but mine was bowel cancer.

I am positive about it but please the sooner you get checked out the better.

    Lots of hugs

  • Thanks for taking the time to reply.  I'm seeing GP (again) tomorrow + think I'll push for colonoscopy.  I've already had CT & a qFIT, which were thankfully clear but symptoms have started again + are concerning.  I've gotten into a right state, convinced it's advanced - partly because my partner was diagnosed through screening with no symptoms + I actually have symptoms!  Anyways, we'll see what happens tomorrow.  I'm trying not to catastrophise!
