Not even diagnosed yet -but I’m worried

Hi all. I hope it is ok to post here when I don't even have a diagnosis yet. My brief story is I was diagnosed anaemic about 6 months ago ( I'm also type 2 diabetes), FIT test negative. Since then I have lost a few pounds in weight, but bowel habits have changed. Then a few weeks ago had a very weird experience where my bowels just started producing loads of mucus. I go back to GP, plenty of tests and he phoned me to say:
Still anaemic even thigh taking iron tablet

Liver function has dropped a bit

FIT test now over 400. I thought he might have said the test was out of 400 but my wife was listening and she confirmed it was over 400. GP also said this was very indicative of possible bowel cancer.

So I am being given a "red flag referral" to hospital for further investigation. I'm 45 and not much scares me but this is taking up a lot of my thoughts. I do know it could possibility be something else like colitis.  I should have said I am now getting constant lower back pain, I think my mind is playing tricks on me.
