Hi All, I just wanted to tell you about my experience with a breast screening clinic. I have been an active follower of some of these discussions recently, and wanted to add my own story, as sometimes we don't get conclusions.
I have been having pain on the underside of my left breast, and underarm for around 3 months. There was no obvious cause for this pain- ie no exercise injury etc. I also was feeling my breasts more beacsue of this pain, and continually doubting if what I could feel was lumps or just normal breast tissue. This increased my anxiety even further. I finally decided enough was enough and that I needed to contact the doctor to get an expert opinion rather than google my symptoms.
Subsequently I went to the breast screening clinic where I was firstly examined by the Doctor, who couldn't feel anything obvious, but did say I had an area of dense/ lumpy breast. For completeness he wanted to do an ultrasound.
I then proceeded to get an ultrasound- which thankfully didn't show any abnormalities. The whole process was very quick, and both the nurses and doctors were extermially gracious and curtious.
My advice to anyone who feels anything strange or differnt is do not ignore it- rather get it checked out. Also while google is sometimes helpful, it's no replacement for a physical check from a doctor.
If anyone has any questions about the process then please do ask.
thanks
