Labia minora lump/swollen

About 7 months ago I noticed that one of my labia minora is swollen and alot bigger than the other side, a few weeks later I had a lot of pain and I noticed it became like a hard swollen ball at the top of my labia minora just underneath my clitoris. To ease the pain and to find out what it was I pressed it and fluid came out. I haven't touched it since however it still is very swollen and I have been to the doctors and they said it isn't a barthalion cyst so they are referring me to the gynocologist.
2 months have past and I had pain around where the lump/swollen labia is, I have also had issues with pain during sexual intercorse so I rang up my doctors again and they said that they will contact the gynaecologist to chase up my appointment. I'm really anxious and I don't know what to do:(

  • Hello Shawy

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns over the past few months. You've done the right thing in seeing your GP and whilst they weren't able to give you a diagnosis, it's good to know that they've referred you on for further assessment. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment with the specialist.

We know that waiting for appointments, tests and results can be a difficult time for many people. It's natural to feel anxious when you're dealing with the unknown. If you don't hear from the GP or hospital within the new week then do get back in touch with them. It may also be worth letting the gynecology waiting list team know that you can attend short-notice appointments if this is practical for you.

If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses about your concerns you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,
