Still waiting for results after first call back

Today is 3 months from the first call back following a routine mammogram.

during my first follow up appointment (6th Sept) a lump could be seen on the scanner so a biopsy was taken (about 10 samples).

i received an appointment for results (10th October)

before that date I received a letter to say this was cancelled and another date to have a vacuum assisted biopsy (30th Sept)

At this appointments I was told I had a papilloma which would be removed using the biopsy and sent for testing.

I then received an appointment for a further biopsy... and eventually a letter saying the papilloma was benign.

the next biopsy (10th Nov) was to get a sample of the micro calcification seem on my original mammogram.

that was 3 weeks ago and I still don't know what is going on. I have no results and no appointment yet.  I did phone the breast nurse last Friday who said I had been partially discussed at MDT but wasn't saying anything else.

I am exhausted, anxious and struggling to work.  I don't know what else to say ...

  • Hello SL51

I'm so sorry to hear about all that you've been through over the past few months. It's no wonder you're feeling exhausted by the process.

As the Breast Care Nurse wasn't able to give you any further information when you contacted them last week it's probably worth getting in touch with the PALS team now. Their role is to provide a point of contact for patients, their families, and their carers and to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS. Hopefully, they will be able to help you get a clearer idea of what is going on.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope you have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
